The addition of a dog to your household is a lifetime commitment, and this responsibility should not be taken lightly, nor without the proper thought and preparation. If you consider a dog to be a disposable member of your family, then please look elsewhere for your puppy, as we are committed to finding homes for our puppies where they will truly be a member of the family. That means committing to not only feeding and caring for the puppy/dog, but also training, sharing your time and interests when possible, and doing your very best to provide love, attention and activities, health care, and protection for the lifetime of your dog.

A dog that is not a pleasure to have around is ignored and often given away. This is NOT the dog’s fault! It takes time, patience, and commitment to raise a puppy to be a good companion. First and foremost is the selection of what kind of dog to get. Choosing the wrong breed of dog for your lifestyle is condemning both your family and your dog to a less than ideal relationship. Before going any further, I suggest that you look at the page “Is A Flat-Coat Right For You?” on the Bertschire Flat Coated Retriever website: https://www.bertschire.com/blank-cxzb

If, after reading this and carefully considering your desires regarding a dog, you are still interested in a Flat-Coated Retriever, then please fill out the following questionnaire and email it to us for review and consideration. Please remember there are no right or wrong answers, just answer honestly, and we will consider each placement on its own merit as every situation is unique.
